About Our Chapter Greysolon Daughters of Liberty Chapter, NSDAR, is one of the Minnesota State Society Daughters of the American Revolution that was created from the 2011 merging of the Greysolon du Lhut Chapter, NSDAR, organized in 1895, and the Daughters of Liberty Chapter, NSDAR, organized in 1897. Our chapter serves the northeast portion of Minnesota from Sandstone to International Falls. We Promote Historic Preservation, Patriotism and Education Historic Preservation Our chapter supports national and state historic preservation projects as well as supports our community in the preservation of historical artifacts. Patriotism Our chapter supports national and state patriotism projects as well as supports our local veterans and hosts celebratory events such as the 4th of July and Veterans Day. Education Our chapter supports national and state education projects as well as works with our community through our projects to support education via scholarships and educational events. We Make a Difference in Our Communities Our chapter gathered at the Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center. The chapter raises funds for this history museum which displays war relics, vehicles and a restored P-38 Lightning plane flown by World War II Ace Bong. Our chapter provided funds for the Desert Medics project. It tells the story of the 477 th medical company, a local army reserve unit that served in the Persian Gulf War as part of Desert Shield/Desert Storm. Their story is told through a series of enlarged photographs taken by unit officers. After being displayed at the Duluth Depot, it became a traveling exhibit of the St. Louis County Historical Society. Each year our chapter holds an essay contest for high school seniors. The winner possesses the qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism in their homes, schools and communities. The educational scholarships awarded encourage and reward those qualities of good citizenship.
